430 Stainless Steel Coil Characteristics:
430 (UNS S43000) stainless steel coil is typical ferritic stainless steel that has resistance to oxidation up to 1500ºF along with good ductility and corrosion resistance.
430 stainless steel coil is a high quality alloy, this steel has good corrosion resistance in mildly corrosive environments and good resistance to oxidation at elevated temperatures. It has better thermal conductivity than austenite grades stainless steel coils, a smaller thermal expansion coefficient than austenite strip, heat fatigue resistance.
430 stainless steel coil is available in a wide range of sizes and thicknesses from stock. It has good formability and weldability characteristics with minimal distortion or warpage during welding processes.
430 has limited weldability and should not be used in the as-welded condition for dynamic or impact loaded structures. Being a ferritic material, 430 has the potential to suffer brittle fracture at sub-zero temperatures. It should not be used in cryogenic applications.
430 stainless steel sheet is used for building decoration, fuel burner parts, household appliances, and home appliance parts. Because of its chromium content, it is also called 18/0 or 18-0. Compared with 18/8 and 18/10, it contains slightly less chromium, and the hardness is correspondingly lower.

430 Stainless Steel Coil Fabrication Data:
1. General corrosion resistance:
430 stainless steel has good resistance to a wide variety of corrosive environments including nitric acid and some organic acids. It is generally used for highly polished applications and in mild atmospheres such as for food processing and dairy equipment. Atmospheric corrosion resistance is good, although in highly polluted or marine environments staining may occur.
2. Cold rolled:
Standard ferritic stainless steels have fair formability characteristics with useful mechanical properties. Their ductility allows them to be formed by bending and deep drawing. They do not undergo significant work hardening when cold formed.
3. Welding:
The standard ferritic stainless steels are prone to grain growth in the heat-affected zone. As such, the tensile, fatigue and toughness properties in the welded condition are relatively poor. They should thus not be used for applications where tensile or dynamic loading will be experienced.
